Her first play - an early Diana Rigg role appearance in The Caucasian Chalk Circle
is a play that so blatantly attacks religion, injustice and social inequality, that it would be challenging to the converted
liberal elite that makes up a modern theatre audience. Undoubtedly the Marxist overtones of Caucasian Chalk
Circle do pose certain difficulties. However, it would have needed a gritty performance by Diana Rigg to have taken on
this role which was so clearly an attack on the inequality of life - a poignant start to her career considering her future role as Emma Peel.
Diana Rigg's second play - The passing of the third floor back
The tenants of an old boarding house are terrorized by an evil slumlord. One day a strange man arrives at the
house and begins to help them with their problems.
